Telemonitoring encompasses, but goes beyond, remote monitoring. It is an act of telemedicine involving a doctor, who is responsible for remotely interpreting the data required for a patient’s medical follow-up. In this way, he or she can monitor the efficacy and tolerance of the treatment in place, and adjust it if necessary [1]. Data recording and transmission can be automated, or carried out by the patient or a healthcare professional. In France, digital medical devices (“DMD”) for remote monitoring of respiratory failure patients have been eligible for reimbursement since 1st July 2023 [2].
