Inspiratory Assist (IA)

Support pressure (SP) or Inspiratory Assist (IA) is the difference between inspiratory and expiratory pressure [1]. Ventilation with inspiratory support aims to provide the patient with a pressure synchronized with his inspiratory effort, in order to compensate for a respiratory defect linked, for example, to an obstruction in the airway [2].
